Meet The Gang

I asked an old school friend to write my bio.

I went to Portola Junior High in Tarzana and Birmingham High School in Van Nuys...so did Tim Conway, Jr. I was the head cheerleader, Tim was in wood shop and ran film strips for Mr. Fischer's audio visual class. Tim was very funny in school, not much of an athlete, could use some dressing tips, but has a great group of loyal friends from third grade. Every time his old friends get together they wrestle and dog pile, this is the only form of communication they're capable of.

I would describe Conway as a Jerry Seinfeld type without the looks, about 60 percent of the humor and about 1 percent of the money. Conway used to leave school early to make bets at Santa Anita for the football coaching staff...I think that's where he developed his "jones." I went to Santa Anita with Conway ONCE and he's not lying, that guy has the worst luck in the world...I had to lend him money for the last race, very quiet ride home.

Conway has four brothers and a sister. His favorite hobby was gambling. He was the biggest sports fan, loved the Rams, The Lakers, The Dodgers, and especially The Kings. I went to a Kings game with him and all we listened to the whole way there and back was Stevie Wonder's Masterblaster. His Father Tim Conway is a great guy and every bit as nice and funny in person as he is on TV. His mother loved playing bridge.

Conway usually ended up with a very average chick at the school dance but they were both laughing all night at whatever geeks laugh at. Conway liked beer and as I recall Old English 800 was his favorite...the only white guy in Birmingham high drinking malt liquor.

My friend dated Conway in 12th grade. I think they went to third base in Robbie's van while listening to Supertramp's, "Take The Long Way Home." She never called him back after that night.

Conway turned out to be a good guy, a good friend, a good father, a good husband, and a guy that still makes me laugh when I see him at school reunions.

PS Conway called me from Del Mar Race Track and asked me to write this...things never change.
